De bhun Alt 31Q den Acht, tá an OPR freagrach as taighde, oideachas agus oiliúint náisiúnta a stiúradh chun ról agus buntáiste na dea-phleanála a aibhsiú.

Soláthraímid cláir oideachais agus oiliúna do chomhaltaí tofa agus d’fhoireann araon d’údaráis áitiúla agus de thionóil réigiúnacha.

Is é is aidhm do chláir oideachais, oiliúna agus taighde an OPR ná feabhas a chur ar an gcomhroinnt eolais agus ar an bhfoghlaim i measc an 31 údarás áitiúil, na dtrí thionól réigiúnacha, an Choimisiúin Phleanála agus páirtithe leasmhara níos leithne amhail comhlachtaí gairmiúla agus grúpaí leasa, agus ar an gcaoi sin cuidiú le héifeachtúlacht, sineirgíocht agus comhsheasmhacht a uasmhéadú ar fud an chórais phleanála.

The Planning and Development Act 2024 was signed into law on 17 October 2024. The Act is being commenced on a phased basis to facilitate a smooth transition from the existing legislation to the new legislation. It is important to note that transitional arrangements are in place. This means that certain elements of the work of the OPR remain under the previous legislation during this time.
