Research, Training & Public Awareness

In accordance with Section 31Q of the Act, the OPR is responsible for driving national research, education and training to highlight the role and benefit of good planning.

We deliver education and training programmes for both elected members and staff of local authorities and regional assemblies.

The aim of the OPR’s education, training and research programmes is to improve knowledge sharing and learning across the 31 local authorities, the three regional assemblies, An Bord Pleanála and wider stakeholders such as professional bodies and interest groups thereby helping to maximise efficiency, synergy and consistency across the planning system.
