Planning Regulator addresses Irish Home Builders Association Event

The Planning Regulator, Niall Cussen addressed a workshop organised by the Irish Home Builders Association in Cork on Thursday, 5th March.

The workshop was aimed at those engaged in house building and it intended to ensure that interested stakeholders were fully informed of the updated regulatory and economic environment affecting home builders.

Speaking at the workshop the Planning Regulator, Niall Cussen, outlined the key functions of the Office of the Planning Regulator (OPR) namely; the assessment of statutory plans, reviews of planning authorities and research, training and public awareness.

The Planning Regulator emphasised, in his presentation, how plan making isn’t a “numbers exercise” but more about “place-making, focusing on certainty and deliverability.”  In addition, he expanded on some of the key findings made to date in the OPR’s plans assessments.

The workshop helped to provide answers to housing and planning related questions to ensure stakeholders were up to date with changes in legislation and regulations prior to engagement with statutory agencies.
